ABOUT THE
PROGRAMME
The Kosovo Environmental Programme (KEP) is the most important environmental capacity development project ever funded by an International Donor in Kosovo. The KEP aims in supporting the development of the capacity of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment (MIE), the Inter-Ministerial Water Council (IMWC), municipalities and other stakeholders in environmental monitoring and management. More specifically the Programme supports the development of the capacity for the implementation of environmental legislation, in compliance with EU directives. Regarding the support to water sector the Programme strengthens the knowledge of Kosovo’s water resources and improve their management, enhancing the resilience to environmental and climate change. Regarding the support to the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency (KEPA) this Programme enhances the knowledge and protection of biodiversity and improves the management of trans-boundary protected areas. The components of the Programme have been defined coherently with the national priorities deriving from the MIE policy and strategy documents published in the section “DOCUMENTS” of this website, including the Kosovo Environmental Strategy (KES) and the Kosovo Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity
